Hebrews 4:16 boldly states, “…the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword….” And Paul said this in Romans 10:8, “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach).” God’s Word is powerful. Once it has been properly assimilated, it is readily available to be utilized in our daily interaction with others.

Indeed God’s “Word” is powerful, but we also know that words can be fairly lifeless until they are mixed with faith (ref. James 1, 2). A very common method of mixing the Word with faith is when a person speaks it forth as their personal confession. A person’s faith cannot rise higher than what they believe and the best way to reinforce and intensify our beliefs is to utilize them in our daily speech. To confess healing is very important if you are sick. This does not mean that you lie about being sick or deny the reality of your symptoms. It means that you confess God’s truth over, above and beyond your symptoms as proclaimed in the Word of God.

Healing comes from God and God has sent forth His spoken Word as well as His “Living Word,” Jesus Christ, to accomplish what He said He would accomplish concerning our healings.  God’s Word is powerful to bring to pass what He has already spoken forth. The fulfilling of what God has promised in His Word takes place when His Word becomes mixed with our faith. While there are many ways to mix God’s Word with faith, a person’s personal confession is definitely one powerful method to accomplish that.

In essence, the Word that we have embraced from God becomes mixed with our faith when it finds expression in our life’s actions. In other words, our personal faith becomes powerful when we believe God so deeply that we let His Word govern our actions and our speech. By developing and having a strong healing confession based on the Word of God, we are actually taking a strong spiritual stance on behalf of our healings. We have chosen God’s Word, spoken from and anchored in God’s integrity, above any and all opposing facts. We have taken our stand on God’s Word as being our personal truth. Our faith proclamation helps release the power of the Word into our lives.

Exodus 14:13-14 reveals what Moses spoke to the Children of Israel when the Egyptians were closing in on them. He said, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today…The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”  He told them to “stand.” How did they stand? They held firm in their belief that God would deliver them. They stood in faith and not in fear. They chose to believe God above all that was happening in natural circumstances and God in turn parted the Red Sea for their safe escape. The same holds true for us today. We must grasp the Word of God in such a way that our beliefs remain immovable even in the face of dire circumstances like threatening sickness and disease.
