Observing the wondrous nature of God is a good way to know more about Him and build faith. In our last devotional study we observed how healing is embedded in the nature of God as we observed that (1) God is Spirit (2) He is one God in three Persons and (3) He is personal. Today we add four more qualities of God which bear upon divine healing including the fact that God is: (4) eternal (5) omnipotent (6) omniscient and (7) omnipresent. In our next study we will conclude looking at the ten essential characteristics of God that relate to healing.

The fact that God is (4) eternal means that He will always exist. He is incapable of being destroyed. That God has always existed and will always exist is one of those truths that almost defies understanding. Our finite minds are mostly dependent upon and hemmed in by the limits of time and space. No such limitations are upon our eternal God giving Him a far superior perspective than we enjoy in this temporal realm. God’s eternal nature is glimpsed when He announced to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM…This is My name forever…” (Exodus 3:14-15). That God exists eternally couples with the fact that He never changes. He declared in Malachi 3:6, “For I am the LORD, I do not change.” In Hebrews 13:8 we are also told concerning the second Person of the Godhead, that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” For God to be self-existing and not dependent on anyone or anything and to be unchanging is our solid foundation for trust. 

God is likewise (5) omnipotent. He is all-powerful. Genesis 18:14 asks, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” And Jesus said, “…with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). God’s power transcends any and all other power that exists and elegantly interrelates with the supreme intelligence of God. He is not only all-powerful, but He is wise beyond all wisdom and (6) omniscient. He is all-knowing or knows everything at all times!  Psalms 147:5 hails God’s power and omniscience by proclaiming, “Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite” while 1 John 3:20 states, “…God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”

Tie together the qualities of God being all-powerful and all-knowing with the truth that He is omnipresent and you have a power package that remains unchallenged. To be (7) omnipresent means God is present at every point in time and space. Jeremiah 23:24 reveals God asking the question, “‘Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?’ says the LORD; ‘Do I not fill heaven and earth?’ says the LORD.’” And Psalm 139:7-8 states, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.” God is able to be powerfully present in the midst of our every moment while at the same time He is capable of being ever-present with all who seek Him even around the world.

God is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent! The implication of these character traits of God pertaining to divine healing is phenomenal. We have an eternal, unchanging God who cannot be overthrown nor destroyed. Not only did He create us, but He is more powerful than anything in the world that has come to be destructive against us. There is no sickness or disease that God is not fully capable of healing. Being omnipotent He is more powerful than the most vicious disease or ruthless debility. God’s omniscience makes it impossible for sickness to lay unnoticed even in the deepest recesses of our cells. His power and knowledge encompasses the very DNA that governs our physical structure placing disease and cellular repair under His control. God fully knows our circumstances even long before they have become our reality.

With God being omnipresent, able to be everywhere in every point in time and space, we need never face any situation, sickness, surgery, or therapy alone. God is always present and He will never leave nor forsake us. He can minister powerful healing within our bodies and at the same time heal someone halfway around the globe. What an awesome, always existing, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present physician we have!
