I John 2:20 emphatically states concerning believers that, “…You have an anointing from the Holy One…” And verse 27 continues with, “…the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you.” If you have received Jesus, the anointing, the manifest presence and essence of God, lives, in YOU! The Holy Spirit, whom Jesus sent to indwell all believers, is in YOU! By the power of the Holy Spirit Jesus has come to abide in YOU! The anointing of God lives in YOU!

Listen to these remarkable scripture verses: Jesus said in Luke 17:21 “…the kingdom of God is within you.” Philippians 2:12-13 says, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” 2 Corinthians 6:16, “…you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them” (Ezekiel 36:26-27). 1 John 4:15, “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” Are you beginning to see this? Once we are born again, we have the opportunity to live in a glorious partnership with God living by His standards and doing the works begun by Jesus.

It is awesome to think about, but when you make Jesus Christ Lord of your life, the Holy Spirit of God comes to dwell in YOU! It staggers the mind to realize that you then became as I Corinthians 3:9 states, a fellow worker or co-laborer together with God! You and God together, partners working together.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, the Savior and Healer, becomes formed in us and we partner with Him in God’s greater purposes. Each of us is connected to God through Jesus Christ.  God partnering with you can reach people to fix broken lives, bind up their wounds and heal their sicknesses. Through that special union of man and God united in people, God can manifest to the outside world, healing the sick, changing lives, bringing love and peace where there is no love; bringing hope and help to hurting people. The anointing of God is in you to heal you and outreach to others.

We know Jesus was sent from the Father and fully authorized by God to preach, teach, cast out devils, heal the sick and accomplish all the works that He did during His earthly ministry.  Remember what Jesus said in John 14:10. He said, “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” As part of God’s long-range plan, Jesus passed along to all true believers the authority He had. He gave them the opportunity to be empowered by the Holy Spirit, as He was, and to function in such a way as to carry on with the ministry work He had begun. As ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), sons of God (Romans 8:14) and joint heirs with Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17), believers are to receive very seriously the instructions Jesus gave when He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12). The same Spirit that lived in Jesus Christ now lives in the believer making the power of God available through each and every committed child of God to outreach into the world. Healing the sick was a major work of Jesus, one He commissioned believers to participate in and accomplish.

The heart of our Father God concerning the importance of healing is well captured in Matthew 25:31-46 which reads:

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’  “Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

God’s heart is toward people and His heart is powerfully turned toward those in need.

Ministry to the sick, the imprisoned, the hungry and the needy is ministry to God.
